Less than a month after joining Pequot Capital Management as chairman, John Mack has returned to Morgan Stanley as its CEO.

At the time of Mack's appointment, Pequot founder and chief executive Art Samberg said that he visualized Mack playing a role in helping Pequot, which already runs $6.5 billion...
