Latin America: Giving up gains

After a winning run early this year, funds focused on Latin America are giving up ground. Following losses in March, May and July, Latin America strategies are now up 3.72% YTD, according to the Hennessee Group. Brazilian-based Investidor Profissional's IP Investment Fund - Value Brazil II Class lost 1.78% in July, though the fund remains up an astounding 28.52% YTD. In the winner's column, Brazilian firm Claritas Investments' Claritas Hedge rose 3.18% for the month to return 10.97% YTD, while the firm's Hedge Long Short was up 1.28% (and an impressive 9.27% YTD), and the Claritas Hedge 30 gained 3.57% (up 10.86% YTD).
