As York Capital Management grows, one of its big challenges is to attract and retain senior talent to manage new strategies.

The solution that has worked best so far has been to give top portfolio managers, and the most talented senior analysts, their own funds to run. Any new fund or strategy, says firm founder Jamie Dinan, should enhance York's investment opportunities - not simply its asset base.
