The Netherlands is something of contradiction when it comes to hedge funds. While some of the country's most well-known institutional investors have been piling into these strategies for some years now, only a few domestic hedge fund managers exist at the moment.

Although the domestic hedge fund landscape could change in the near future, right now it is strangely under represented when it comes to home-grown hedge fund managers. "We have the ingredients, but no cake," says Frits Fiene, founder of WorldView, one of the few domestic hedge fund players in the Netherlands.
