Renaissance Technologies hires Barclays’ Scanlan for CEO

Renaissance Technologies has named Matthew Scanlan, former head of the Americas institutional business at Barclays, to serve as president and chief executive of Renaissance Institutional Management, the firm’s institutional investor-focused subsidiary.

In his 12 years at Barclays, Scanlan was a member of the firm’s Americas Executive Committee and Global Investment Technology Executive Committee. He oversaw all client-facing activities related to the firm’s defined benefit, defined contribution, foundation, endowment and Taft-Hartley businesses in the U.S., Canada and Latin America....
