Flowering Tree prepares its strategy away from the storm

Rajesh Sachdeva was lucky enough to be between firms when financial markets collapsed, but his new venture, Flowering Tree, is ready to pick up some bargains after the turmoil

Being on the sidelines is rarely where a hedge fund manager wants to be, but for much of last year Rajesh Sachdeva was happy to be between his previous venture and his latest one. There were plenty of lessons to be learned, but he was fortunate not to have to learn them the hard way. "I was in a unique position of watching two trains collide, while not being on either of them," he says.
