Swiss private bank group Lombard Odier's hedge fund venture with its 1798 Global Partners affiliate is starting to gain traction

The planned launch of a new European distressed debt fund is the latest step in the expansion of 1798 Global Partners, the global hedge fund firm based in New York and Geneva that is closely affiliated with the Swiss private banking group Lombard Odier.

The 200-year-old Swiss back has made a significant strategic commitment to its hedge fund venture, which is led by CIO and former investment bank trader Aziz Nahas. Lombard Odier's clients have provided much of the outside capital for the firm's existing funds, which total around $300 million. The group has also provided working capital for the first few years of the alternative manager's life.
