Paul Smith talks to AsiaHedge about the regional impact of the credit crunch on fees, the prospects for start-ups and more established names, and a rare opportunity in the making
Paul Smith is a co-founder of Triple A Partners, a Hong Kong based seeding platform. He is well known in the regional and global hedge fund industry as the former head of alternative fund services at HSBC and before that, of course, Bank of Bermuda, since 1996. It would be fair to say that he has played a leading role in the development of the global and regional hedge fund industry over this period.
So is it really all change for hedge funds?
PS I believe that the expected changes to the industry will be less perceptible than people think. I am not so sure that the world has shifted on its axis like everyone expected it would. It should have done, after what happened last year, but people seem to be slipping into their old ways again, getting back on the roller-coaster, and going for another...
