For years, Investcorp based its hedge fund business on channelling the savings of wealthy Gulf investors into lucrative investments abroad. But the past few years have seen a surprising new twist to its client base. US and European institutions now account for about two thirds of Investcorp's $4 billion in multi-manager and single-manager hedge funds.
