Former Indus man De Ris targets undervalued quality companies with global equity strategy

Experienced global equity analyst Theron de Ris has gone live with his new long/short global equity strategy - which launched on 1 February with initial backers and external investors that include his former employer Indus Capital Partners.

Indus, the highly-regarded $3.6 billion Asia-focused hedge fund led by former partners at Soros, has taken a minority stake in de Ris' new independent investment management company, Eschler Asset Management - and is also providing some seed capital for the fund along with other day-one investors that have known and worked with de Ris over the years.

De Ris previously worked as a senior equity analyst in the firm's London office....
