Not many people can claim to have been managing emerging market investment funds for more than 20 years. But Julian Adams is one of them.
Now back at the helm of his own $120 million London-based emerging market debt and equity hedge fund boutique Adelante, Adams is a veteran of both the institutional and independent investment worlds.
Having started out in trading in 1988 with Libra Bank, the pioneering emerging market debt house, he switched to fund management as a founder member of Paris-based EM debt investment specialist FP Consult, which subsequently became part of Fortis.
From there he moved on to ANZ - where he worked with Mark Coombes and Jerome Booth, who bought out the bank's EM investment business to found the now publicly quoted Ashmore group.
