Ex-Lansdowne man Ross Turner could hardly have picked a worse time to launch a long/short European equity firm. But his Pelham team has sailed through the havoc with aplomb

Back in 2007, before the world fell apart, former Lansdowne European equity manager Ross Turner's Pelham Capital was one of the most eagerly anticipated hedge fund launches in Europe.

The firm's Pelham Long/Short fund got going in November that year - at almost exactly the time when asset-raising for hedge funds in general, and for new funds in particular, started to become extremely difficult due to the rapidly deteriorating market environment.



The global financial and economic crisis of 2008 rather took investors' minds off focusing on any new funds that started up around that time - and it ultimately put paid to any number of planned launches.

But Turner and his team ploughed on - quietly plying their trade throughout...
