Former Sailfish, Touradji and Cantor execs launch Panda Global

Hans Haywood is joined by former Touradji marketing chief Mark Landis and Cantor Fitzgerald structured finance executive Jason Rok. Though fond of pandas, the macro firm is bearish on China.
Hans Haywood, a former emerging markets manager at defunct
Sailfish Capital Partners, has launched an emerging markets
macro fund at Panda Global Advisors, a firm he recently founded
with former colleagues from Credit Suisse. The Panda Global
Master Fund launched April 1 with $20 million and expects to
raise an additional $50 million by June, with a target of $100
million by yearend.
Haywood and partners Mark Landis and Jason Rok met at Credit
Suisse, where they all worked between 1997 and 2004. Before
Panda, Haywood managed a $460 million emerging markets strategy
at Sailfish Capital Partners. Landis was the head of marketing
at Touradji Capital Management, where he helped grow the
commodity shop from $2.5 billion to $3.4 billion. Rok
co-managed the structured finance and repo book for Cantor
Fitzgerald until 2007. Haywood serves as chief investment
officer, Landis as head of business development, and Rok as
