Armajaro spreads wings in asset management with growing platform

Armajaro founders Anthony Ward and Richard Gower have built a remarkable business in commodities trading and structured securities in just 12 years - and are now fast developing their alternative asset management arm too

Armajaro has come a very long way from small beginnings. Founded in 1998 by former Phibro soft commodities trader Anthony Ward and ex-Eurobond broker Richard Gower, the firm started life in a basement office on London's Grosvenor Street with nine employees and just £2 million of the founders' own capital.

Twelve years on, the commodities and financial services group and its subsidiaries have more than 3,000 employees worldwide - with offices in 15 countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and north and south America.
