Former Carlson PM Charles Slotnik launches merger arb fund

The ten-year veteran of Carlson is starting again with Slotnik Capital Management.
Charles Slotnik, former partner and portfolio manager at Carlson Capital and co-founder of the now-liquidated Brookline Avenue Partners, has re-surfaced with a new merger arbitrage hedge fund. “It’s a robust environment for M&A,” Slotnik says, about his decision to launch. “There are a lot of companies making strategic acquisitions with stocks still well off their highs and interest rates at historic lows.”
He formed Slotnik Capital Management in Dallas this January, and rolled out the Overhill Liquid Arbitrage Fund with $25 million from friends and family. The fund has been closed to outside capital, but Slotnik plans to...
