Fund administrators adapting to a rapidly changing world

Although the European hedge fund industry is showing signs of recovery and growth, administrators still face a series of tough business challenges in the years ahead

Despite signs that the European hedge fund industry is starting to grow again after its earlier steep decline, the administrators face an array of new challenges as well as new opportunities.

Citco has retained its place as the leading administrator to European hedge funds, both in terms of number of funds and overall assets, according to the latest survey of hedge fund administrators by the EuroHedge data and research team.

As at the start of 2010, Citco was administrator to 147 European hedge funds - with combined assets under management of $53.5 billion.

The second biggest administrator by number of funds was Citi - whose hedge fund servicing business includes the former BiSys - whose 115 funds make it the only other European hedge fund administrator that has more than 100 hedge fund administration mandates in Europe.
