Gartmore has appointed Adam McConkey as head of UK smaller
companies following the resignation this week of Gervais
Williams as head of the embattled UK-listed asset manager's
highly-regarded UK smaller companies team.
In the latest blow to the publicly-quoted firm - whose share
price is still reeling from the recent departure of star
European equity manager Guillaume Rambourg after the firm's
decision to conduct an internal investigation - Gartmore said
in a statement to the London Stock Exchange on Wednesday that
Williams was leaving "to pursue other interests".
Together with Rob Giles, Williams was the original portfolio
manager of Gartmore's AlphaGen Volantis long/short UK small-cap
