Peter Briger, principal and co-chairman of Fortress
Investment Group, will offer a keynote address at the
seventh-annual AR Symposium, which is being held November 2-3
in New York City at the New York Athletic Club.
Briger, who is responsible for Fortress’s credit
hedge funds, joined the firm in 2002 and has been a member of
the board of directors since November 2006. He was elected
co-chairman in August 2009.
After the crash of 2008, changes made at
Fortress’s hedge funds helped the firm show the
best gain in AR’s annual
Hedge Fund Report Card, moving from its near-bottom rank of
30th to tenth this year.
Prior to joining Fortress in March 2002, Briger spent 15 years
at Goldman Sachs, where he became a partner in 1996. Over the
course of his career there, he held the positions of co-head of
the whole loan sales and trading business, co-head of the fixed
income principal investments group, co-head of the Asian
distressed debt business, co-head of the Goldman Sachs Special
Opportunities (Asia) Fund and co-head of the Asian real Estate
private equity business.
