HCM gains traction with novel multi-index fund

Using indices is the future of the alternative investment industry, according to HCM director Edward Wethered.

London-based HCM is one of the first investment managers to launch a product that aggregates different indices within a single fund.

The Luxembourg-domicile fund, MLIS Torrus Funds Merrill Invest Structural Alpha Fund, has celebrated its first anniversary last month and has $105 million in assets under management. The fund has returned 1.48% this year to September.

Wethered, co-founder of HCM, says its objective is to provide investors with absolute returns in a structure that has better liquidity, transparent fees and increased regulation via the UCITS structure.

The fund seeks to deliver absolute returns through a multi-strategy approach that targets structural sources of alpha created by market inefficiencies in different asset classes.
