Hedge funds produced relatively flat aggregate gains in March, but outperformed global
indices. The HedgeFund Intelligence Global Composite Index, which tracks
nearly 4,000 single-manager hedge funds, produced an estimated median
gain of 0.17% in March against a 0.99% loss in the MSCI World Index
(net).

Funds in the Americas
rose 0.27% in March, against a 0.10% loss for the S&P 500 Index.
European funds fell 0.01% against a 0.83% loss for the MSCI Europe Index
(net). Asian funds gained 0.66% against a 4.96% loss for the MSCI
Pacific Free Index (net).
Emerging Market Equity hedge funds
were the best performers globally, gaining 1.41% in March. In contrast to last month, when they were the top
global performers, Managed Futures hedge funds struggled in March,
dropping 1.28%.
