Paul Myners, a well-known figure in business and government circles who has been involved with the hedge fund industry for many years, has joined Swedish-based activist fund manager Cevian Capital - Europe's largest active ownership investor - as a partner and chairman of its UK operations.

Myners had a long career in fund management, leading UK asset manager Gartmore as chairman from 1987 to 2001 through a period that saw the firm emerge as one of the earliest and most successful institutional firms to establish a presence in the hedge fund business.
