As Lutyens da Cunha turns ten years old, the co-founders reflect on the changing market

Lutyens da Cunha started life in Mayfair in September 2001. At
the time, the firm that took the names and character from the
two founders Tanya Lutyens and Gemma da Cunha, aimed to be the
best human capital advisory firm in what was then a relatively
under developed alternatives space. Today, on the eve of its
10th anniversary, it is a hedge fund headhunting brand in its

"Our aim was to launch an alternatives focused executive
search firm because having focused on hedge funds at our
previous firm we realised quickly that it was a rapidly
evolving industry," explains da Cunha. Not only was the
absolute return investing story becoming stronger, but Lutyens
and da Cunha soon found that from a headhunting perspective
there were few specialists around.
