We have entered an era whereby western economies are
increasingly being dogged by a difficult economic backdrop
– interest rates are at historically low levels, there
has been increasing inflation, consumers and governments are
reducing debts – which have all resulted in tapered
growth. The antithesis of this is often seen as emerging
markets and many investors are increasingly seeing them as a
central part of their portfolio.
