The ninth annual EuroHedge Summit, to be held April 24-26 in Paris, will feature leaders of the industry's largest firms, including recently-knighted Sir Paul Ruddock of Lansdowne Partners and Manny Roman of Man GLG, who will be participating on a panel together on the first morning of the conference.

The Summit will again open, as has become traditional in recent years, with a big-picture macro panel to be moderated by Gavyn Davies, the former chief economist at Goldman Sachs and chairman of the BBC. Participants on that session will this time include Sushil Wadhwani, whose Wadhwani Asset Management recently became a part of Bruce Kovner’s Caxton group; Jens Nystedt, a leading economist at Louis Bacon’s Moore Capital;  Jonathan Lourie of Cheyne Capital; and Barry Goodman of the U.S.-based managed-futures firm Millburn Ridgefield, one of the longest-running firms in the industry globally, with a track record going back to 1971.

Also featured on the first morning will be a big-picture session focusing on the views of investors. That session will feature Christopher Fawcett of Fauchier Partners, Nicola Meaden Grenham of Alpha Strategic, Niels Oostenbrug of MN Services and Jim Vos of Aksia.

Keynote speakers include Andre Esteves, head of the fast-growing Brazil-based BTG Pactual asset management and investment banking group; Kyle Bass, founder of Dallas-based macro firm Hayman Capital Management; and Guillaume Rambourg, the former star European equity manager at Gartmore who is now in the process of launching his new hedge fund business, Verrazzano Capital, in Paris.

Regulation will be another key issue for this year’s event, including a panel on the first afternoon that will feature Andrew Baker of AIMA and Darcy Bradbury of D. E. Shaw, who is a director and former chairman of the Managed Funds Association in the U.S.

As with last year’s Summit, portions of the first afternoon and second morning of the event will be allotted for parallel stream sessions – allowing delegates a choice of two topics for those parts of the program. These sessions will again feature discussion of key business issues – such as business and counterparty risk management, derivatives clearing and trends in fund structuring both onshore and offshore.

In addition to discussion as usual on various operational issues, investors will also feature more prominently this year in the programme. There will be a session on the second day on which Larry Powell of the Utah Retirement System and Stephen Oxley of PAAMCO will be joined by others to discuss the experiences of end-investors who have been going direct to hedge funds, as well as the continued blurring of the lines between consultants and funds of hedge fund groups that are increasingly offering advice on bespoke portfolios.

Investor perspectives will also be provided on various other panels by speakers from a variety of different sorts of investor groups, including Hilmi Unver of Notz Stucki and Alexandre Pini of Banque Privee Edmond de Rothschild and Heinz Blennemann from his own eponymous U.S.-based family office.

Last but not least, the event will as always feature panel discussions on a variety of key strategies, including emerging markets, managed futures, equities, credit and event driven. As details of those sessions are being finalized, please check for updates.

The event will commence with a wine-tasting on the evening of April 24, allowing delegates who arrive early an opportunity to collect their badges and take advantage of extra networking time (ample time is, of course, available during the event at the various coffee breaks, lunches and cocktail events that will take place on April 25 and 26).
