Hong Kong-based MCP Asset Management, one of the biggest alternative asset allocators in the region, is providing JPY3 billion ($36.5 million) in seed capital to two long/short funds to be run by ex- Millennium Capital quant trader Masakatsu Hayashi.

Hayashi, who has also worked at Daiwa Securities and Société Générale, is looking to replicate his track record trading Japanese stocks in the last ten years using a unique proprietary trading model where he has never had a negative quarter, even during the quant crash in the summer of 2007.
