JH Whitney’s Japan Advisory loses licence in Japan over insider trading

The Japanese authorities have decided to strip hedge fund firm Japan Advisory of its licence to operate in the country for allegedly breaching insider trading rules, creating a ripple of shock among hedge fund advisors and managers who fear other potential actions from the Japanese regulators.

Japan Advisory is the advisor for JH Whitney, the New York and Singapore-based alternative investment manager led by Ed Brogan, which for several years was among the biggest and more successful overseas hedge funds investing in Japan.
