The Ironwood Institutional Multi-Strategy Fund, and its feeder, the Ironwood Multi-Strategy Fund, both commenced operations on 1 January 2011, although the San Francisco-based firm, Ironwood Partners, itself started in 1996. As the firm’s SEC-registered funds of hedge funds are new, all – with the exception of Cerberus International SPV – have a January 2011 first acquisition date.
The fund has $110.33 million in assets, although according to the latest SEC listing the group has $2.49 billion under management, and according to the latest InvestHedge Billion FoHF Club survey, seems to have seen its AUM grow by 49% in the first half of the year. For the Ironwood Institutional Multi-Strategy Fund itself assets have grown from $31.13 million at 30 April 2011, to $110.33 million on 30 April 2012, equivalent to a 12-month growth rate of 254.4%.
