A former portfolio manager at $7.2 billion London hedge fund firm CQS is starting a new special situations fund in New York with two former Lehman Brothers colleagues.
Chand Sooran, until May a CQS portfolio manager in distressed and value equities and debt, hopes to launch Point Frederick Capital by yearend. He plans to use "unique, proprietary value screens," to parse out distressed, value, litigation and event-driven trades, according to marketing materials obtained by Absolute Return....
