Mutual fund giant Templeton buys K2 stake

K2, the firm’s namesake
Franklin Resources, which operates as Franklin Templeton Investments, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in K2 Advisors, an independent fund of hedge funds manager that has $9.3 billion under management.

In the past two years, more than 20 FoHFs have undergone some form of merger or acquisition deal, and the momentum is unlikely to slow down, according to the September issue of InvestHedge.
