Deepak Narula, head of mortgage-focused hedge fund Metacapital Management, has signed on to deliver a keynote address at the Absolute Return Symposium on November 1. His flagship Metacapital Mortgage Opportunities Master Fund is up 34.30% this year through September and has produced an annualized return of 54.26% since launching in August 2008. Metacapital, picked in 2010 as an AR Fund to Watch, now manages about $1.4 billion. A recent profile of Narula by Bloomberg featured the caption "Numbers Don't Lie: Is Narula World's Top Trader?"
Narula joins other prominent managers and speakers at the two-day New York City event. They include Dinakar Singh, founding partner of $4.5 billion TPG-Axon Capital; Steve Tananbaum, chief investment officer of $10.5 billion GoldenTree Asset Management; David Warren, chief executive officer of $4 billion DW Investment Management and manager of the Brevan Howard Credit Catalysts Master Fund; and Andy Redleaf, founder of $2.3 billion Whitebox Advisors, among other industry leaders.
