A singing, dancing star of India's famously colorful Bollywood
movies has been tapped to play disgraced Galleon Group founder
Raj Rajaratnam in an upcoming Hollywood flick, "Billion
Mohanlal (full name Mohanlal Vishwanathan Nai), seen this
year in "Confident
Casanova," will take a more serious spin in the U.S. pic,
set to film in New York for a 2013 release.
"Mohanlal's similarity to Raj is uncanny. But that's just a
small reason for choosing him; he's such a brilliant actor and
we are huge fans of his movies," director Nayan Padrai told the
Times of India.
Last year, Padrai told Absolute Return he was drawn
to the lurid facts of Rajaratnams story. "There's stuff in here
you cant make up," he said. "There's sexual encounters, there's
backstabbing, there's backbiting--its amazing that people who
we oftentimes think are so much bigger than all of us are as
human and as messed up as all of us. It's a really great story
of greed and downfall."
Rajaratnam is incarcerated in a Massachusetts jail until
2022 after being found guilty last year of 14 counts of
conspiracy and securities fraud related to pervasive insider
