Despite a season of anaemic performance, some Asian managers shine

Early indicators show a flat to mildly positive performance overall in October for Asian hedge funds, making the year to date returns look fairly lukewarm and still well below the gains US-focused and other global hedge funds have brought home.

Most managers we have spoken to admitted to keeping their bets conservative ahead of the US elections in early November as well as the leadership change in China. Market volumes thinned out too, and both managers and allocators were seen squaring away their books for the year.
