Kramer is one of two candidates President Barack Obama is considering to be deputy Treasury secretary, according to a Bloomberg report. Kramer was a top fundraiser for Obama during the 2012 election campaign, bundling at least $500,000 in donations for the President.
Kramer declined to comment on the report Tuesday.
According to Bloomberg, Obama is also considering Raymond McGuire, the head of advisory business at Citigroup, for the position under new Treasury Secretary Jack Lew.
Kramer is founder and chief executive officer at equity-focused Boston Provident, which managed $193 million at yearend. Kramer has a history in public service, including chairing the New Jersey State Investment Council and working for Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
