Speakers and panelists have been finalized for this year’s Absolute Return Symposium, which will be held on March 19 in New York City.

Michael Lewitt, a veteran credit manager and author of the ever-insightful newsletter The Credit Strategist will be joining the Absolute Return Symposium as a keynote speaker.

He will address the global economic climate, and how to pursue profits tactically while protecting against macroeconomic risks.

"Sooner or later," Lewitt wrote in the February edition of The Credit Strategist, "investors are going to have to come to terms with the reality that the global economy is incapable of servicing and/or repaying the tens of trillions of Dollars/Euros/Yen/Renminbi of debt that were created out of thin air over the last five years (not to mention the thirty years of unpaid-for promises that preceded the most recent orgy). Nobody can say precisely when that time will come but investors should not ignore that reality and leave themselves exposed."

Lewitt is the co-founder and chief investment officer of credit-focused Eccles Street Asset Management. Previously, he was the co-founder and president of Harch Capital Management. Early in his career, Lewitt was a member of the corporate finance department at Drexel Burnham Lambert and a tax attorney at law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. He is the author of The Death of Capital: How Creative Policy Can Restore Stability.

The Absolute Return Symposium will explore the state of the global economy, the evolving demands of institutional investors, and the regulatory environment for hedge funds, among other topics.
