Michael Lewitt, a veteran credit manager and author of the
ever-insightful newsletter The Credit
Strategist will be joining the Absolute Return Symposium
as a keynote speaker.
He will address the global economic climate, and
how to pursue profits tactically while protecting against
"Sooner or later," Lewitt wrote in the February
edition of The Credit Strategist, "investors
are going to have to come to terms with the reality that the
global economy is incapable of servicing and/or repaying the
tens of trillions of Dollars/Euros/Yen/Renminbi of debt that
were created out of thin air over the last five years (not to
mention the thirty years of unpaid-for promises that preceded
the most recent orgy). Nobody can say precisely when that time
will come but investors should not ignore that reality and
leave themselves exposed."
Lewitt is the co-founder and chief investment
officer of credit-focused Eccles Street Asset Management.
Previously, he was the co-founder and president of Harch
Capital Management. Early in his career, Lewitt was a member of
the corporate finance department at Drexel Burnham Lambert and
a tax attorney at law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. He
is the author of The Death of Capital: How Creative Policy Can Restore
The Absolute Return Symposium will explore the
state of the global economy, the evolving demands of
institutional investors, and the regulatory environment for
hedge funds, among other topics.
