Glenn Dubin’s family office prepares to seed quant firm from SAC, Citadel pros

Flood of new ventures from SAC veterans continues.
The family office of former Highbridge Captial
Management co-founder and chairman Glenn Dubin is in
negotiations to enter its first seed deal backing a
quantitatively-driven equity fund launched by portfolio
managers from Citadel and SAC Capital Advisors.
An executive for Dubin & Co. confirmed that a
deal was in process, but that the terms, including the size of
the allocation, had not been finalized. The new firm will
launch with only partner and seed capital, and has no plans to
raise outside capital for the foreseeable future, the executive
said. The new firm, Engineers Gate, is overseen by Yuriy
Nevmyvaka, Michael Kearns, and Matthew Cushman. Nevmyvaka and
Kearns ran a quantitative trading team at SAC. Matthew Cushman
managed a quantitative strategy at Citadel Securities. Zhihong
Huang, the new firm’s chief operating officer,
also hails from SAC.
