The Upside: Lombard Odier soars in special situations

Gary Lehrman’s standalone special situations fund is on a roll in 2014. The Upside, a new monthly feature, will highlight one exceptional fund in the Absolute Return database.

The 1798 U.S. Special Situations Master Fund, managed by Lombard Odier Asset Management (USA) Corp, generated a return of 12.53% in the first three months of the year, making it one of the strongest performers across various strategies listed in the Absolute Return database. The fund invests across asset classes in stressed and distressed North American companies that face a near- to medium-term catalyst. Distressed has outperformed other strategies so far this year, with the Absolute Return Distressed Index rising 4.4%.
