TCW founder backs fund launched by ex-DoubleLine equities pro

Husam Nazer, a former long-time TCW Group manager
who recently served as a co-head of DoubleLine Capital's equity
business, has set out on his own with the backing of TCW
founder Robert Addison Day. Nazer, who left the Los
Angeles-based DoubleLine at the end of June, plans to launch
the equity-focused Sword Capital Partners September 1,
according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission and a person familiar with the matter.
The new, Los Angeles-based fund will pinpoint
equities investments in small and middle-market companies, the
filing said, but also expects to use derivatives positions to
bolster long and short bets. It will hedge using sector index
Nazer will share space with the Oakmont Corporation, Day's
family office. Day has long had his hands in the hedge
