One of the most important decisions affecting the success of your fund will be your choice of administrator. Choosing a quality administrator/banker, who is able to look after many of the operational and financial matters and keep your investors happy, will leave time for the manager to focus on what it does best: making money for the investors.

The traditional role of the administrator is changing. Increasingly, administrators are bought by (investment) banks, who then combine prime brokerage, finance and administration services into a package. Similarly, some administrators extend their services further by combining their own services with those of their parent company (being a bank). The end result is a service provider that is capable of offering many services that a hedge fund needs in a one-stop shop....
