Pioneering firm leads the way

Over the past decade Brummer & Partners have established themselves as near-legends in the Scandinavian hedge fund market. Barry Cohen plots the company's rise and rise

Since the launch in 1996 of Zenit, Brummer & Partners' first hedge fund, the group has not only emerged as a Scandinavian powerhouse; it has also become a legend in its own time. Among Nordic hedge fund managers, the Stockholm-based firm is acknowledged as a pioneering enterprise which effectively started the Swedish, and ultimately, the regional onshore hedge fund industry.

Over the past 10 years, the firm has developed a stable of nine uncorrelated hedge funds of varying strategies as well as offshore funds, a fund administration company, a unit-linked insurance business, and an internal fund of funds.
