A fertile environment for successful investing

Since the early years of this decade, Singapore has become one of the most significant bases for hedge fund managers in the Asia-Pacific and the range of Singapore-based funds is testament to its role in enhancing the depth and breadth of the Asian hedge funds industry.

While there is still a preponderance of long/ short equity funds (many with a long bias), a quick glance through the list of Singapore-based managers reveals a wide and growing variety of strategies.

There are many reasons why managers favour Singapore, from its geographical location to its relatively low-cost base and high quality of life.

 

But, whatever the motives of individual managers, one universal message comes through clearly – the Singapore regulator welcomes hedge funds and has created an environment that reflects that.
