Scandinavian focused funds can be found throughout Europe in various financial centres such as Geneva and Luxembourg. However, as the world’s second-largest hedge fund centre, London is the preferred location for many top-quality Scandinavian managers.
In 2005, Frode Aschim, a Norwegian, and Ulf Brunnstrom, a Swede, founded Range Capital in London. Scandinavia accounts for most of the country exposure in the firm’s two funds, while Swedish investors constitute an important component of its clientele. Moreover, Aschim and Brunnstrom spent part of their asset management careers working for Swedish firms.
