Foreign houses: Have big foreign names skewed the market?

Our database focuses on dedicated single-manager funds investing in, or located within, the Asia-Pacific region. Nonetheless, foreign houses have played a significant role in recent years with regard to the development of Hong Kong as a hedge fund centre.

For the first three or four years of this decade, Asia had been something of a backwater when it came to the presence of foreign houses in the region. Hong Kong was largely left to local managers after the Asian financial crisis.
