Foreign houses: Have big foreign names skewed the market?

AsiaHedge data does not specifically monitor or include the comings and goings of the foreign houses in the region. Our database focuses on dedicated single-manager funds investing in, or located within, the Asia-Pacific region. Nonetheless, foreign houses have played a significant role in recent years with regard to the development of Hong Kong as a hedge fund centre.

For the first three or four years of this decade, Asia had been something of a backwater when it came to the presence of foreign houses in the region. Hong Kong was largely left to local managers after the Asian financial crisis.
