In the early phase of the development of the Scandinavian hedge fund industry, Finland ranked as the second-largest market in the region. However, despite having launched a number of funds in the 1990s, earlier than Norway or Denmark, it has slipped down to third position, well behind Norway and just ahead of Denmark, in terms of the number of funds and assets under management. Yet, Estlander & Partners, a Helsinki-based managed futures firm, has enjoyed robust growth since its entry into hedge funds in 2004.
