Long/short Voltaire and Zadig veteran Saglio sets sights on long-only growth

Over more than 11 years, Laurent Saglio has been a top performer in long/short European equity. Now, backed by his long track record, he is using the UCITS market to add a long-only capability

It is a sign of Laurent Saglio's character that, not content with having run two of Europe's best-performing and most respected hedge funds for more than 11 years, his ambition remains unsated.

Saglio's Zadig Asset Management - whose slogan for many years was "Life's too short to be long" - plans to launch a long-only UCITS product that can go head to head with the -mutual fund industry's big names.

The plan is not as surprising as it might at first appear, given that Saglio's success has been based on a high-conviction, research-driven value stock-picking style not dissimilar to that used by Warren Buffett or Peter Lynch.
