Old Mutual mulls new flagship systematic launch

Old Mutual Asset Managers (UK) is mulling the launch of a new systematic fund that would combine its existing suite of quant-based offerings with the aim of expanding the firm’s well-performing hedge fund operation and increasing its institutional investor penetration.

Under the overall leadership of Paul Simpson, OMAM’s systematic investments team runs three quant-based products: the $305 million Global Statistical Arbitrage Fund (GSAF), led by Simpson himself; the Global Equity Absolute Return (GEAR) equity market-neutral UCITS fund, managed by Ian Heslop; and the relatively new OMAM Managed Futures Fund.
