Over 900 hedge fund managers, investors, and other industry professionals will come together to celebrate the achievements of the best performing funds of the previous year. Nomination Criteria

The aim of the EuroHedge Awards is to recognise those European hedge funds which have produced the best risk-adjusted returns over the 12-month calendar year, with awards being presented across a variety of strategy areas.

What are the nomination criteria for each award?

To be considered for an award, funds must submit performance data to the HedgeFund Intelligence Database and have at least a 12-month track record history.

The only exception to this rule is for new fund awards where we require a minimum seven-month track record; for these awards, the funds' whole performance history to date is taken into account.

Winners are decided using an established methodology based upon a combination of Sharpe ratios and returns over the relevant time period (see below).

Nominations are decided by those funds in each peer group that achieve the strongest Sharpe ratios over 12 months, so long as they also beat the median returns in their relevant peer groups and are within 10% of their high-water marks.

The eventual winners will be the funds that have the best returns, as long as they also have Sharpe ratios within 25% of the best Sharpe of the nominees in their relevant peer groups.

Most of the award categories require a minimum asset level of at least $100 million.

The only exceptions are the Emerging Manager & Smaller Fund and the New Fund of the Year awards, where the minimum is set at $30 million, and the Long-Term Performance awards, where the minimum asset level is $500 million.

The criteria for the best Management Firm are based on a quantitative scoring system that ranks weighted average returns, Sharpe ratios, absolute and relative performance and overall alpha generation across a firm’s range of funds.

For Fund of the Year overall: we take into consideration the winners of all the various categories, as well any other funds with exceptional performance which may have missed out on other awards by being narrowly outside the range on Sharpe ratio. Nominees for Fund of the Year will not be announced until the evening of the event.

What period of time do the awards cover?

The EuroHedge Awards year runs from January to December. The first set of nominations are released in mid-November, an updated set in mid-December, and final nominations in the second week of January after all December performance data has been submitted to EuroHedge. The Fund of the Year nominees will not be announced until the night of the awards.
