Close to 400 leading hedge fund managers and investors attended the AsiaHedge Forum 2013
The AsiaHedge Forum, entitled 'Strategies for the Asian Century', was held this year on 23 April at the JW Marriot in Hong Kong, attracting almost 400 delegates over the course of the day. The event brought together the Asia-Pacific hedge fund industry elite, as well as leading fund managers and investors from around the globe.
The day began with a keynote interview with Lawrence Powell of the Utah State Retirement Fund, who discussed his outlook on Asia's hedge fund industry and his allocation strategies for the future.
The opening session was followed by a series of lively and engaging panel sessions, covering a range of themes, such as the macro-economic outlook for the region, fixed-income and credit strategies, and equity strategies in the Asia Pacific region.
The programme also included a panel which focused on the needs and expectations of investors in Asian hedge funds, and a discussion of operational issues, concentrating on how to build a sustainable business structure in the current environment.
George Philips of Northwest Investment Management delivered the second keynote speech of the day, providing a highly informative presentation on the new opportunity set in Japan and his approach to the Japanese market.
China was also under the spotlight during a panel devoted to debating the issues which will be critical in the development of the country's nascent hedge fund industry. The latest developments in regulation and the associated issues and concerns were addressed in the closing panel of the day.
HedgeFund Intelligence would like to thank all of the delegates, speakers and sponsors who helped to make this year's AsiaHedge Forum such a successful and enjoyable event.
We look forward to seeing you at the Forum again in 2014.
