EuroHedge Summit 2008
Venue: Palais de la Bourse
Dates: Wednesday, 16 April 2008
Thursday, 17 April 2008
Over 850 delegates attended the 5th Annual EuroHedge Summit in Paris. Held at the magnificent Palais de la Bourse in the heart of Paris, this event is known for its acclaimed international speakers, and high-level discussion of the major issues facing the hedge fund industry.
Best practices and other hot topics added to Paris agenda
With the markets in such a severely dislocated state, there will be no shortage of talking points for a top-level line up of speakers at the Palais de la Bourse on 16-17 April
As recently announced online, we are very pleased to confirm that Paul Findley from Threadneedle is to be the final keynote speaker at next month's EuroHedge Summit at the Palais de la Bourse in Paris.
Findley, manager of the highly successful Threadneedle UK Crescendo long/short equity fund, has proved himself to be one of the best equity managers in Europe during periods of difficult markets – not just in recent months, but also in previous downturns going back to 2001. With such a background, he is exactly the sort of tried and tested manager with experience through the cycle that we believe investors will want to hear from in the current climate.
We are also delighted to announce here the final set of topics for the regular period of parallel stream sessions held on the first afternoon of the Summit. This year, given the myriad challenges facing the industry, we have agreed to work with some of our associate sponsors – Isle of Man Finance, Tennyson Fund Solutions, Bank of New York Mellon and Citco Fund Services – to host a sequential set of stream sessions on issues related to Best Practices. These will begin with the topic of fund structuring, domicile and governance before moving on to valuations and disclosure; then operations and risk management; and finally the vexed question of global standards in the industry.
And for delegates who may prefer to see discussion of other topics, the parallel stream sessions to be simultaneously held in the other hall will offer a choice of various other issues. These include: extracting and enhancing alpha using volatility strategies, where we will be working with Société Générale Asset Management; credit and counterparty risk (a particularly hot topic following recent events), in association with HSBC; opportunities in Canada, in association with TD Securities; and managed accounts, in association with Lyxor.
Despite (or perhaps even due to) the dislocated market conditions, advanced bookings for the Summit have been ahead of previous years, and we are expecting a total attendance up again on last year of over 850 delegates.
