The NYU Langone Medical Center has received $17 million from the Steven A. and Alexandra M. Cohen Foundation to support veterans' mental health research. The SAC Capital Advisors founder's gift establishes a new veterans' mental health research center to study post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury and conduct research on diagnosing the conditions.

"We cannot understate the importance of this project," Steve Cohen said in a statement. "Every veteran deserves access to treatment for the trauma he or she experienced while defending our country.
